ever wonder how your love story would start? :)
you probably were reading piles of love story novels...
a cute story from the Bible gives us a picture of how amazing God writes our love story.
Genesis 24
When Abraham was old, he asked his servant (
the one in charge in all that he had) to find a wife for his son, Isaac. Abraham was holding on to the promise of God that he would make his offspring dwell in the promise land, and part of the promise God said to Abraham is that his offspring(
Isaac) would get a wife from his original country(
the place where Abraham came from and where God asked Abraham to leave). the servant was quite unsure if he can get a wife for Isaac without letting Isaac go in that place, or if the girl will be willing to follow them.It is because according to Abraham, let not Isaac go in the place where he came from.
the search for the 1st lady :)
In faith, the servant went to the place where he is asked to go. He brought 10 camels with him and some precious gifts for the future wife of Isaac. when he arrived in the city, he let the camels kneel down at the time when the women is go out to draw some water. he prayed to God to make his mission be a successful one. he asked God that the one who will give him water and water the camels will be the future wife of Isaac.
out of all the beautiful ladies drawing water in the well, rebekah (
a very attractive woman, whom no man had known) was the one he was looking for. the servant asked rebekah for water to drink and to his surprise, rebekah also water his camels. after seeing the miraculous coincidence, he prayed with thanksgiving for God does not only answers his prayers but also is faithful to his promises. he found out that rebeka's father was his mater' kinsmen. so he gave the gifts he brought.
on their way to rebekah' house, they saw his brothers already had prepared a place where the camels can stay. what an amazing God! (
even camels, he is mindful of :p)
what's amazing is, the response of rebekah's family
"the thing has come from the Lord, we can not speak to you bad or good. behold, rebekah is before you take her and go. let her be the wife of your master's son as the Lord has spoken"
even rebakah hasn't seen Isaac, she still went and obeyed because she believed that this perfect coincidence came from God.
as they travel back to Abraham's tent, Isaac was meditating. (c
ant imagine how perfectly God answered the request of Isaac ;)) at the end of the chapter, a short verse was written. "Isaac loved rebekah." :)
-i'm just touched with the story of Isaac and Rebekah.
they are both in different places but still God made a way.
Abraham was in faith that God will do what He promised. (
we should know God's promises so we know what we hold on to)
the servant was obedient and prayerful asking for the will of God. (
be obedient, pray! be sensitive on where God is leading us to )
Rebekah was faithful in doing her duty, to draw water from the well. She doesn't know that part of her drawing of water is God's plan. (
so girls, let us be faithful in doing things, whatever it is)
Rebekah's family was not against the mystical coincidence that has taken place but instead they respond with joy. (
if it is the will of God, our family will not be against it)
Isaac's story while waiting was not mentioned in the story but i am sure that as he meditate to God, he is also asking God of the characteristics of his soon to be wife will have. that is why i conclude that the first time that they saw each other, they were both attracted to one another.(
God will not give us partners that we don't like, ask and you will recieve)
happy heart's day.
i hope we are all inspired with the story that is God written.
wait..
be patient.. =)
all things will fall into the right place if we focus on God!
